Now in her late 20's, Isabel "Izzy" Spellman joined her family's private investigation firm when she was 12 years old.  Her tendency toward subterfuge comes to her genetically:  Mom and Dad are PI's, Uncle Ray as well, brother David is an annoyingly perfect attorney, and, not to be outdone, little sister Rae started in the family business at the age of six.  As a group, they are smart, sneaky, cynical, above the law, and very very funny.  Author Lisa Lutz has invented a family that puts the fun back in dysfunctional. 

The first title in the series, The Spellman Files, debuted in 2007 and was immediately published in 23 different languages (see the author's website for the international book covers - in Czech, 'Lisa Lutz' becomes 'Lisa Lutzova').  The second title, Curse of the Spellmans, published in 2008, was recently nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America. 

The third book in the series, Revenge of the Spellmans, has a publishing date of March 2009.  My advice is to start now on books one and two, so that you will be ready to pounce on book three as soon as it appears.  The Spellmans are really too much fun to miss.
