For the past year or so, millions of children, teens, and adults around the world have been breathlessly waiting for an announcement about the publication date for the seventh (and final) entry in the Harry Potter series. Finally…the moment has arrived! Today, J.K. Rowling posted an announcement on her website that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is going to be published at midnight on Saturday, July 21. Typically, she’s being very tight-lipped about the plot—although there’s been of frenzy of speculation amongst the Harry Potter faithful since Rowling hinted that a couple of characters might die.

On a related note, the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is going to be released on July 13.By the way, if you haven't done so already, take a few minutes to explore the nooks and crannies of Rowling's website. I'm sure it breaks a whole bunch of website usability rules but it's really nifty! Another site that might be of interest (although isn't quite as slick as Rowling's official site) is the Harry Potter Lexicon. In there, you'll find an Encyclopedia of Magic Spells, a Quidditch Handbook, a Wizard's Atlas, and a Visitor's Guide to Hogwarts. Fun stuff!
I don't think I'm understating things when I say that the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is likely to be the publishing event of 2007. Let the countdown begin...

Will Harry survive or will it take the ultimate sacrifice to achieve victory ofer Voldemort? And is Snape truly evil or is there more going on than any of us know. July 21 cannot come any sooner for me!
