Fall into Fall

Now that Labor Day is behind us, thoughts drift to fall- back to school, leaves changing colors, crisp cool days I know it’s 90’ right now, but use your imagination…
Looking for some great books to get your kids to a fall frame of mind? Check out any of these great titles!
Lois Ehlert’s Nuts to You! (1993) follows a city squirrel as he prepares for winter. Pair it with her other fall favorite, Leaf Man (2005) which follows a leaf on his travels from a tree in fall.
Who Loves Fall (2007) by Bob Raczka celebrates the smells, tastes, holidays, experiences, and changes in nature that make the fall special. Children jump in leaf piles, birds migrate, bears hibernate, a father bakes an apple pie, kids play football and soccer in the high energy, bright illustrations.
In Mouse’s First Fall (2007) by Lauren Thompson, Mouse enjoys as fall day, learning about leaves, their colors and shapes, and the fun that comes from piling them up and diving in!
Fall Leaves Fall (2000) by Zoe Hall is tailor made for preschoolers. Watching the leaves fall to the ground, two children try to catch them, then stomp on them, kick them, collect them, compare their shapes, rake them into a pile, and jump into it.
In Blue Burt and Wiggles (2006) by Derek Anderson, a bird and a worm try to hold back the fall so the two can continue playing happily in their woodland home.
In Kelli Nidey’s When Autumn Falls (2004) simple language and colorful cut-paper illustrations are perfectly matched to provide an engaging look at the season.
